What’s on and where to go these school holidays from 16 September – 1 October 2023 in Werribee and Surrounds – just 30 minutes from Melbourne.

Come and see the dinosaurs!
DinoFest Melbourne is coming to Werribee Park from 9 September – 1 October! Step back in time and explore the Dino Trail, with more than 30 dinosaurs to meet. Tickets include a 45-minute Dinosaur Encounter, kids’ activities and Dino Trail. Plus The Refectory Parlour are offering pre-order Dino Hamper picnic boxes to enjoy!

Check out the new Holey Moley and Strike Bowling in Point Cook
Looking for some family-friendly mini golf or ten pin bowling? Holey Moley and Strike Bowling have joined forces and have just opened in Point Cook, featuring 24 lanes of bowling, laser tag, arcade with VR set up and 18-themed holes of mini golf fun. Or for more mini-golf by the harbour, head to The Elements Coastal Activity Park.

Enjoy some belly laughs at Hamlet: Prince of Skidmark
Head to Wyndham Cultural Centre on 16 September to enjoy this cheeky take on a Shakespeare classic by The Listies and Critical Stages. Bookings essential.

Plan a free family day out at RiverFEST in Wyndham Park
Show your love for Werribee River and enjoy a free day of entertainment from the Werribee River Association on Sunday 24 September. Pack a picnic blanket and enjoy the live music, dance, workshops, kids’ activities, stalls and more.

Have a ROAR-some time at Werribee Open Range Zoo!
Head off on Safari through the African savannah and keep an eye out for Werribee Open Range Zoo’s growing pride of Lions on the walking trail. New Lion clubs, Mwezi, Kianga and Jango are starting to explore beyond the den, gradually increasing their time out with the pride. Plus, Zoo entry is free for children under 16 during the school holidays!

Enjoy a free Wadawurrung First Nations Event in Townley Boulevard Park
Join Ash Skinner for school holiday activities in the park on 21 September, 12pm – 3pm, with talks about local plants and birdlife, children’s activities, boomerang painting, stencils, drawing and dancing along with an onsite coffee cart.

Get creative in Werribee City Centre
Get crafty with Pinot & Picasso’s school holiday, lion-themed King of the Jungle session on 20 September or their Mystical Mermaid Session on 27 September. While you’re in the city centre, pop into Wyndham Art Gallery and see their latest exhibition, the free, Wyndham Art Prize.

Try clay shooting with Go Shooting
Entertaining teens? Try a Have a Go Clay Target Shooting experience with Go Shooting with coaching from expert trainers. Sessions for ages 12 - 17 are available on Saturday 16 and 30 September and Sunday 24 September.

Explore the free RAAF Museum
Marvel at the RAAF Museum’s huge collection of jets, helicopters, propellor planes and interactive displays. The free museum is open on Thursdays and Sundays with online bookings essential.

Discover a new playground
Have you been to the Crocodile Park in Point Cook? What about Wyndham Park, Dinosaur Park or the animal-inspired Safari Park Cornerstone? Explore some new territory and make a day out of it with brunch, lunch or ice cream treat.

Go on a bike ride

Take a tour of Werribee Park Mansion, explore the gardens and pre-book picnic treats to enjoy from The Refectory Parlour or Wyndham Cache.

Enjoy a walk along Werribee South Foreshore and take advantage of the playgrounds at JD Bellin Reserve and Price Reserve, before a well-deserved ice cream or fish and chips at Wyndham Harbour.
